Entangled Tatwin

An interactive new media installation built inside a ghorfa of Ksar El Ferch, reading Tataouine as a stack of layers: mineral, linguistic, economic, and science-fictional.

No instruction. The work runs on presence.
Tataouine gave its name to a desert planet that is now far better known than the town itself. Entangled Tatwin works on that gap: it treats the region as a sequence of strata, geological, architectural, linguistic and economic, and lets visitors move through them. The piece lives in a single ghorfa, one of the vaulted storage cells of Ksar El Ferch. A vertical screen stands against the earthen wall. A camera reads the body of whoever enters, and the image dissolves into point clouds and dot matrices that recompose around their presence. There is no interface and no instruction: the work only exists while someone is standing in front of it. Shown at E-FEST, 11 to 13 April 2025, whose ticket revenue was dedicated to the restoration of the ksar.
