Interactive Installation
Immersive environments built as systems that generate their own image, not as video files played back.
An interactive installation is not a screen with a sensor bolted on. It is a loop: the room produces data, the system turns that data into image and sound, and the result changes what people in the room do next. We have run that loop at every scale. At Djerba Explore, nine microphones spread at different heights fed a real-time datavisualisation projected on the floor, a jar of olives wired through an ultrasonic sensor and an Arduino drove wall pixel mapping over DMX, and a motion camera turned a light wall into a reading of the space. At Le Monde Imaginaire, visitors described their imaginary world out loud and watched it appear, generated and projected at large scale. The engineering is ordinary components wired with intent: Arduino, ultrasonic and motion sensors, DMX fixtures, LED panels, microphone arrays, real-time engines. The design question is never which sensor. It is what the room should be able to say.
- ▸Visitors become the source of the work rather than its audience
- ▸Dispositifs that run unattended for the length of an exhibition
- ▸Data from the site itself used as material, not as decoration
- ▸Full technical specification, from sensor model to component inventory
